ABOUT

THE CHRONIC 33

On Saturday 1st February 2025...

A New Zealand team of elite riders from RISE UP Foundation is flying to Australia and joining forces with a charitable team from Sydney to attempt to break the Guinness World Record for ‘Longest Static Cycling Class’. The current World Record sits at 31hrs 34mins (non-stop riding). We are aiming to hit 33hrs! As a combined Australasian team, net proceeds will go towards two amazing charitable causes:

RISE UP Foundation’s own charitable purpose of helping to deliver vocational programmes to our disadvantaged / displaced young Kiwi adults across Aotearoa, using all net proceeds and

– Chronic Pain, where approximately 1 in 6 New Zealanders and 1 in 7 Australians suffer from the long-term effects of illness and disabilities that cause chronic pain

5 members of Les Mills New Zealand have come together to be part of the Australasian team to challenge for this coveted title. The pain that they will endure for 33hrs (non-stop cycling) pails into insignificance, compared to what the 4.4 million Australasians who suffer chronic pain (lasts more than 3 months) endure daily.

Financial contributions will enable RISE UP Foundation to disperse net proceeds according to its constitutional purpose and to that of Chronic Pain Australia. Chronic pain can be isolating. It’s invisible, but it impacts every part of a person’s life. This event isn’t just about breaking a record, it’s about connection. Connecting with the broader community, raising awareness, and showing people that they’re not alone in their struggles. We’d love for you to be part of that.

ABOUT

THE CAUSE

Here at RISE UP Foundation, we are a new not-for-profit with a charitable purpose of raising income in support of delivering skills-based training programs and scholarships to help our disadvantaged &/or displaced Kiwi youth (Māori, Pasifika and Pakeha).  Funds raised will not only support the foundation’s survival but will also be used to facilitate the delivery of relevant programs for these young adults. Our youth today are our Leaders tomorrow.

THE CHRONIC 33 is our latest charitable fundraising event, designed to help provide the income needed to enable the foundation to push forward and meet its objectives, help to change and create a better pathway forward for our disadvantaged youth. Help us to break the cycle of inequity!

Chronic Pain Australia is the national voice for the 3.6 million Australians living with chronic pain.  They are a non-profit, non-government, registered organisation founded in 2001.  The organisation is driven by a group of committed volunteers advocating to reduce the social and economic barrier to those who live with chronic pain.
